Minor Home Repair (MHR) Program

How does the program work?

The Minor Home Repair Program (MHR) provides grant assistance to income-eligible homeowners in eligible areas for necessary home repairs. Priority is given to reparis that establish a decent, safe, and sanitary home, including:

  • Roof replacements
  • Electrical
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Furnaces
  • Plumbing
  • Water heaters

Iteams that are not covered include foundations and sewer pipes. Remodeling projects are not eligible.

How do I know if I qualify?

To qualify for the Minor Home Repair Program, you must:

  • Live in a participating area
    • Please call 720.523.6200 to see if you live in an eligible jurisdiction
  • Own the home (name must be on the Deed of Trust) and it must be your primary residence
  • Be current on all taxes
  • Mobile homes must have U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) manufacturer certification labels (manufactured after 1976)
  • Meet established income guideliines, as determined by HUD (see chart below):

How do I get started?

  • Ensure you have met all eligibility requirements listed above
  • Then, click here to access the online application -OR- contact the Minor Home Repair Program at (720) 523-6200 and talk with staff to determine your initial eligibility and have an application sent to you.
     An increased number of applications may result in longer processing times. 

What happens next?

  • Once your application is accepted and it is determined that you are eligible, a representative of Adams County Housing Policy & Community Investments Division will conduct an on-site visit to determine essential repairs needed
  • A description of work and cost estimate is prepared and released for a competitive bid to approved and licensed local contractors
  • A qualified contractor will be selected to complete the work on the home
  • All work will be inspected for completeness and compliance with local building codes and permits

Seeking general contractors for the MHR Program

Adams County is seeking professional general contractors to perform single-family and manufactured home repair in the county.
