Do I Need a Permit?
Permits are required on the following types of projects:
| Outside | Inside |
| A deck over 200 square feet, over 30 inches above grade, attached to a house and serves as an exit door | Furnace installation or replacement |
| Any deck with attached roofs | Water heater installation or replacement |
| Patio covers, awnings and carports | Boiler installation or replacement |
| Outside water/sewer line replacement or repair | Gas logs and gas lines |
| Fences | Fireplaces (wood, pellet, or gas) |
| Retaining walls 4 feet over ground level | Basement finishes |
| Lawn sprinklers | Remodeling |
| Pools, hot tubs (elec) | Electrical modifications |
| Re-roofing | Plumbing modifications |
| Siding and stucco | Structural modifications |
| Room additions | Electric to gas conversions |
| Garages – detached and attached | Installation or replacement of windows or doors (.35 U-factor or greater) |
| Any size shed (max size 200 square feet) | Increase or decrease of window or door size |
| Evaporator/Swamp coolers | Sump pumps |

Permits are not required for the following types of projects:

| Concrete private sidewalks/driveways | Flooring |
| Soffit, facia and gutter replacement | Painting |
| Concrete or stone patio slabs (without roofs) | Replacing plumbing fixtures |
| Painting | Changing light fixtures |
| Minor roofing repair (One square or less) | |
| Minor fence picket repair |
