The Croke Reservoir Nature Area, located off of Huron Street north of Naiad Drive, provides a perfect arena for fishing, a leisurely stroll, or just a place to sit and relax. The eastern shore recently went through a major construction project to enhance the amenities and accessibility.

Acting for Youth

Playful Dramatics Ages 4-5
Role playing is a natural part of being a child, so this class is a place where that exploration can happen in a structured environment. We’ll have some costume pieces, props, music, and other fun stuff to create and act out our stories. Each week we will work within a theme including fairy tales, animals, world cultures, and many more!

From Page to Stage Ages 6-8
Students will put their heads together as they take themes and characters from their favorite fairytales and twist them into a new magical story. This class combines team work and literacy with beginning acting and then culminates with a short presentation of the new piece for family and friends. Different authors/books will be used each session.

Introduction to Acting Ages 9-12
This is a great class for the want-to-be actor! Students will work on a series of scenes or skits that focus on movement and character development. There’s also some great games and activities thrown into the mix. It’s a ton of fun! The final class is a short presentation for family and friends

New! Auditioning 101 Workshop Ages 8-18
If you’ve never auditioned before or would like some pointers on how you’re doing – this is the workshop for you! In this workshop we will cover the following: writing a resume, selecting and preparing a monologue, what to do about headshots, and how to bring out the best of you in a first impression. This is a great way to get positive feedback and constructive criticism. Taught by Northglenn Youth Theatre director, Kimberly Jongejan.

Young Rembrandts
This well-known arts program is back! Drawing is the fundamental skill of the visual arts that can–and should–be learned by all children. Young Rembrandts teaches the drawing skills children need while developing learning skills that give children an academic advantage in the classroom.

Pre-School Ages 3 ½-5
Young students are so eager to learn, and a joy to teach. Young Rembrandts instructors provide a nurturing and strong learning environment that expands Pre-schoolers’ image vocabulary as they draw familiar images. We’ll concentrate on the skills of drawing and coloring while we develop fine motor skills, focus, listening, staying on task, patience, and spatial organization!

Cartooning Ages 6-12
Learning to draw can be fun, especially when we create silly characters, funny expressions, and drawing sequences that tell a joke! This delightful program combines Young Rembrandts’ innovative, step-by-step drawing method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor, and their vivid imaginations.

Elementary Drawing Ages 6-12
Our elementary-age curriculum is designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques, and vocabulary. The Young Rembrandts teaching staff believes that drawing is the bedrock skill required for future artistic success. This class will give budding artists the skills to express their creativity in a positive and nurturing environment. You’ll see increased art abilities, learning skills, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Junior ZOO Camp Ages 5-7
Kids love to draw animals! Join us as we learn to draw a variety of animals found at our local zoo. We will draw giraffes, lions, tigers, birds, and more. Our final day will result in one large scene of the zoo, divided into several habitats and incorporating the many animal friends we have learned to draw.

Anime Cartoon Camp Ages 6-12
Come explore the world of Anime with Young Rembrandts! We will spend four days learning about and drawing cartoons in the Anime style. We will learn to create our own original Anime characters. We will use a variety of facial expressions and action and movement to illustrate our scenes. On the final day, we will pull from what we already learned to draw a large comic book type scene in the Anime style.

Keyboards for Kids Beginning Keyboards
Keyboards for Kids has been training young musicians since 2003 and is taught by top-notch educators who have focused experience and passion for working with children. In this class, the keyboards are provided onsite and the participants learn the basics. Topics covered will include playing, programming, music theory, improvisation, and more! (8 weeks)

Group Guitar Ages 6-12
This group class is a great way to de-mystify guitar. Topics covered include: proper posture and positioning, age-appropriate and kid-friendly music theory and fret board harmony, notation (how to read music), beginning and advanced chords, ear training (playing by ear), and rhythmic training using the natural percussive qualities of the guitar. Bring your own appropriate sized guitar to class.
