A national survey on attitudes toward walking revealed that the American public prefers to walk more places more often. When given the choice between walking and driving, over 55% of the public, choose to walk. Americans prefer the nurturing and development of walkable communities rather than new roads as an alternative to today’s traffic and congestion concerns.
The geographical size of Northglenn, 7.5 square miles, and a well-planned trail system make it possible for residents and visitors to walk from east to west in our active, walking community. Various shopping and service venues, integrated with land use planning and the City’s planned transportation system gives each resident the opportunity to participate fully in a society whether or not they own a car and regardless of age, ability, ethnicity or income. The livability and character of Northglenn support revitalization without displacement for residents and visitors and provides for active living through community design.
Whether you’re visiting our community for the first time or you live in Northglenn, we invite you to get out, get some fresh air, and enjoy a brisk stroll in our walkable community! | | |
