Each spring, city crews flush every hydrant along the 110 miles of water mains in Northglenn to remove debris. Small amounts of iron and manganese may temporarily discolor your water during this process, but it poses no health threat. If you notice a rusty tinge to your water, open all your faucets at the same time for a few minutes until the water runs clear. Avoid doing laundry if the water is tinged as it may discolor some items. For questions about the city's hydrant flushing program, call 303-280-7834.
department overview

Each division supports sections and units that have related functions and/or mutually supportive relationships.

The department is organized and staffed to support rapid assessment and response to community problems. An organizational chart and position allocation link/staffing chart are located below.

Most field decision-making passes through just two layers. Major decisions requiring the chief executive's approval pass through just three layers. This supports the Community Problem Oriented Policing (CPOP) philosophy of employee empowerment allowing decision-making at the lowest level possible.
