Candlelight Vigil

Officer Jeremy Lund lights a candle for Sergeant Steve Garrow in preparation for a unity of officers showing their support of officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty. The candlelight vigil has become a yearly event, held at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park during National Police Week in mid May.
youth commission

The Northglenn Youth Commission was formed to encourage youth participation in community issues and to give youth, between the ages of 13 and 18, a voice in government. The commission makes recommendations to City Council and staff about programs, activities and facilities.

The board of directors is composed of not less than seven nor more than 15 directors, who serve a term of one year. Board of directors must be Northglenn residents or enrolled in an Adams 12 Five Star District school.

The commission allows for an unlimited number of members.

The commission meets every first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Northglenn Recreation Center.

Skate Park

The city of Northglenn received a $550,000 grant from Adams County Open Space to build a new skate park.

It will be located in E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park, just southwest of the existing basketball court.

Over 30 letters of support were submitted along with the grant application, and they went a long way in communicating how strongly the people of Northglenn feel about the project.
Both the Northglenn Youth Commission and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board have spearheaded the effort behind the skate park.

The park will be a 15-20,000 square feet concrete construction project with both street and vertical elements.

Design will begin in 2010, with completion of the project scheduled for 2011.
Local skaters and interested residents are invited to become involved in the design of the project and work alongside professional skate park designers.
