Tax Information

All operating businesses selling, leasing, renting, delivering or installing a tangible product or engaging in a service, are required to apply for a sales tax or use tax license. Northglenn businesses that do not “sell” anything are required to obtain a City Use Tax License. Persons making infrequent taxable sales are required to obtain a license to collect the city tax.

It takes approximately 20 days for the city to issue a new business license and all businesses must obtain a license before opening to the public.

Yearly tax licenses are valid until your business is discontinued, sold or your license is revoked. Business licenses are required to be renewed by Dec. 31 of each year. The fee for a business license is $15 and the license is non-transferable. A separate business license is required for each individual business location operating within the city of Northglenn boundaries.

In Northglenn, the licensing process ensures that the area is properly zoned for the business activity and that the city has a record of the business information.
