Admissions Tax License

Events that are open to the public and charge a fee to gain admission are required to collect and remit a 3 percent admissions tax to the city.

Some examples of events are:
  • Motion picture performances
  • Stage shows
  • Plays
  • Concerts
  • Sporting events
  • Contests or exhibitions
  • Lectures
  • Rallies
“Cover charges” or “door charges” also qualify as admissions charges and are subject to the tax.

Obtain a License

If you will be holding an event and need to apply for an Admissions Tax License, fill out the application and submit it, along with the license fee and deposit, to the City Clerk's Office. If you currently hold a Northglenn Sales and Use Tax License, you can report admissions tax with your normal sales tax reporting and do not need an Admissions Tax License.

$5 Admissions Tax License fee plus a cash deposit of three percent of estimated proceeds x 1.5. (The fee and deposit are waived for tax-exempt groups.)

Admissions Tax Licenses are non-renewable; they are good for the date of the event only.

Rules and Regulations
Regulations governing Admissions Tax Licenses can be found in Chapter 5, Article 11 of the Northglenn Municipal Code.
