A proposal has been made to name a future Northglenn park after former mayor Odell Barry.
The Diversity, Inclusivity & Social Equity Board has made a request to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to name the park that will sit just west of the Northglenn Justice Center.
Some of Barry’s contributions to Northglenn include:
- Serving as mayor from 1982 to 1984
- Serving on City Council from 1972 to 1979
- Advocating for parks and recreation, including the development of the current Northglenn Recreation Center
He also played for the Denver Broncos in 1964 and 1965.
As per the Parks Naming Policy, there is a 90-day assessment period during which the board is seeking any support, opposition or alternatives to the proposal.
Anyone who would like to provide feedback to the Parks Board regarding the proposal is invited to attend their meeting on Thursday, July 8 at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers. Options are also available to participate remotely or to submit feedback via email. Please contact Belia Straushein at email@example.com or at 303.280.7821.
