New Recycling Center Opening at Northwest Open Space

The public now has a new place to recycle in the city for free!

The new center has been established on the north side of Northwest Open Space. To get there, take West 112th Avenue to the entrance across from Ranch Drive, near the Water Treatment Plant.

From April 2 to 30, the Northwest Open Space Recycling Center will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The city may adjust the times after April based on use and need.

The facility is fenced to prevent materials from blowing through the area and to help deter dumping of unrecyclable materials. Only individuals can use the center; no businesses.

The facility will accept the following items. Please clean out any food residue:

  • Cardboard and paperboard (shoeboxes, etc.)
  • Office paper
  • Magazines and junk mail
  • Phone books
  • Brown paper bags
  • Plastic household containers
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Cartons

Items not accepted include (but are not limited to):

  • Plastic bags or any other thin plastics such as packaging materials
  • Styrofoam/polystyrene materials
