Reusable Bags Available at Rec Center

Update: The green bags were so popular we are already out! We are ordering more and will let you know when they are in. Way to go green, Northglenn!

A new state law passed during the 2021 Colorado General Assembly goes into effect on Jan. 1.

Medium and large Colorado stores will now charge customers 10 cents for each recycled paper bag or a single-use plastic bag they use for their purchased items. Additionally, starting in 2024, those stores will not be allowed to furnish plastic bags, only recycled paper bags. More details on the bill can be found at https://tax.colorado.gov/carryout-bag-fee.

To help residents make this transition, the city is offering free reusable bags in January. Green Northglenn reusable grocery bags (shown above) are available for pickup at the Northglenn Recreation Center, 1 E. Memorial Parkway, during open hours. Patrons may take up to four bags per person while supplies last.
